so, there's this guy I periodically see on the opposite side of the street who apparently commutes solo on a tandem. For a while, I wondered if, perhaps, it was his only bike; if it was something he bought with a partner in a relationship long since soured but he hasn't sold it because that would abandon hope for chances to revive what was. Perhaps he rides it hoping to see his ex-partner on the street, and that they might go on a ride together, one more time.

This morning, I saw the tandem again, riding in my direction for once, with the stoker on board. Apparently, they're bikepooling. Endearing!
