obviously someone thought it hilarious to program the traffic lights into total killjoys on the first day of Bike To Work Week.

22 mph crosswinds over the Longfellow were just the sugar frosting on this ass cake of a commute.

Though I got to see another cyclist outside Harvard Square rocking the Honjo Fenders + Spanninga Taillight look, which was neat. And a SCUL rider commuting around on a tallbike which was also rather keen.

You know, I commute through Belmont every morning and evening. You've probably seen me numerous times. I ride a red Felt F85.

Are you attending any of the Bike Week festivities?

spokenword says,

you know, a red Felt does sound familiar. It sounds like you work closer to Watertown and the Arsenal, right? When do you get out?

I'm usually on the road somewhere between 8am and 8:30, and I'm on a black bike with silver fenders and either a Carradice saddlebag or a large black PAC designs messenger bag. The bike's also distinctive for having two Planet Bike blinkies on the seat stays and a Spanninga taillight mounted on the rear fender.

I totally spaced on the Central Square commuter breakfast, but am definitely planning on doing the Broadway Bike School pancake breakfast tomorrow. Also, definitely planning on doing the rescheduled Redbones bike party next Monday. Are you doing any of the festivities?

I work in Watertown Square and do the commute from Cambridge via this route:

http://maps.google.com/maps?q=http://trail.moti...

I get out at about 8:00 am so I can do the loop, but will get out earlier if there's someone to ride with. :-)

I'm sure we've seen each other about. I'm out every day, but I ride in CT on the weekends. There's nothing very distinctive about my bike. I generally do the commute with a large battery velcroed to my bike to power my headlight. Oh, and I still wear my Specialized winter riding jacket. Between being anemic, the wind, and the temperature variance during the day, I get very cold still.

I'll drop in on the Broadway Bike School breakfast tomorrow. I can't turn down pancakes. I'll probably arrive around 8:00 am. I also plan on getting to Redbones as well. Hopefully we can meet up at one of these.

Do you ride on Saturdays with the Wheelworks group ever? That's the only group I have ridden with and I dropped after like 7 miles. :-(

spokenword says,

nah, the only club I ride with are the Boston and Westfield brevet crews.

I never really got into social club riding, and most of my weekends have been either brevet training, random wandering or 'extreme grocery runs' (ride out to farmstands in Framingham or apple orchards in Bolton, buy produce, ride home).

I'll see you at 8 at Broadway. It'll be nice to put faces to names and stuff.
