Learning to ride my fixed gear. Someone forgot to warn me about going *down* hill and needing to stop at a red light. Finally, my useless knowledge of the Flinstones came in handy in a moment of panic.

No front brake, I guess?!
I was given a front break with the bike, but it was not on the bike when I rode it. In fact, I still haven't put it on. I like the work out it gives my legs, but damn is it scary to ride in Boston. :-)
you know when I got my fixed gear, I resolved to avoid using the front brake for the first month of riding just to 'learn' how to stop.
That resolution lasted about two weeks before saner thoughts prevailed. It's good to use it as little as possible but, boy, is it nice to have when one needs it.
