A long ride with Naotoj. First half of the route was same as what I took about two weeks ago. We saw many cyclists with full load of stuffs around Lexington reservoir. One of them said that they were aheading Santa Cruz and planned to have a camp over there. Sounded nice.
Capitola was nice and warm. That was what we expected in sea side city.
On the return trip we took Mt. Charlie instead of Soquel San Jose so that we didn't have to deal with high-speed traffic on Soquel San Jose.
Mt. Charlie was tougher than Soquel San Jose since 1) there were some steep sections (likely >15%) in Mt. Charlie where Soquel San Jose was steady at ~5-6% 2) Summit of Mt.Charlie route was actually ~400ft higher than summit of Soquel San Jose route. 3) Mt.Charlie has both up and downs and it made total elevation gain further larger.
However Mt. Charlie had very low traffic (I only saw <10 cars on the road I think) and beautiful views. I think it worth the effort.
