We went down to visit my parents, and worked in a gorgeous ride on a gorgeous day along the Narragansett shore area in RI. It's flat down there, but we did find one nasty little hill near the Jamestown bridge that had a 14% grade for a while. We tried to get over the bridge but couldn't even find a way to GET to the bridge on a bike, and when we got close, it didn't look as though it had any pedestrian space anyway. I'm not sure how pedestrians are supposed to get to and from Jamestown.

Tried to fit in a quick mountain bike ride before a meeting, but everyone else was late and slow to get going, so I only got in 30 minutes before I had to bolt.

Dave and Scott at Estabrook, beautiful day, felt a little tight from the PMC but worked it out over the run. Felt good at the end.

Second day of the Pan Mass Challenge, from Bourne to Provincetown.

Sadly, my GPS battery died only 20 miles in to this ride, so I don't have useful statistics. It was a great ride, though, and unlike previous years I had PLENTY left at the end of the day -- enough to pull a long train up a hill into a headwind.

Felt good, felt strong, ate a ton once I got in.

The first day of the Pan-Mass challenge, from Sturbridge to Bourne. It starts out pretty hilly, levels out toward the end of the day. Fantastic support, fantastic ride.

With 4000 riders on route, you're guaranteed to find a train you can get on. I spent much of the day riding with a former national time trial champion from Britain, who was happy to let me draft when things got fast. I was pretty happy with that average over all those hills -- although I've done it slightly faster in prior years, this time I had a lot left at the end, and I wasn't miserable.
