Hit "start recording" and then double click at each point along your route. You can choose "complete there and back route" which will obviously give you the milage and such if the route you use is applicable.
It takes some time to plot the routes and it is a pain to double click repeatedly each little piece of a curve, but it does work pretty well once it's all put together.

Are you using a GPS to plot that route?
If you don't have your GPS unit with you or want to record a route taken some time ago, try this tool, if you aren't already familiar with it.
