River Trail Route Posted at 01:10 PM

The first time I've been back on the bike since November of last year (!). Some of the inactivity can be attributed to a broken ankle I suffered on Thanksgiving, though I got the cast off in late January, so mostly it's been bad weather and laziness since then. However, I still felt pretty good on a short-ish ride.

Man, I've been slacking on this site (also on riding) -- however, here's a race I did a couple of weeks ago. Despite being really slow, my useless trivia knowledge came in handy & I took second. Sweet!

I forgot to put this up cause I'm a slacker, but here 'tis, the last ride before MS150 time. I feel pretty well-prepared for the ride, mostly because everyone else I've talked to about it has told me that it's really fun -- nobody has yet said anything along the lines of "omigod I couldn't finish it it was so awful I just about fell over when I was done" which is what I worried I'd be hearing. So.. yeah. We'll see, I suppose.

Out to Valley Forge again this weekend, after a week of inactivity brought on by nonstop rainy weather. Felt much better this time, as we ate better & packed better snacks (mmm, PB&J). Also managed to get my first flat of the summer, which isn't too bad. It was nice to finally use those tools we carry around on myself for once instead of fixing other peoples' chains & stuff.

Note that Katie's better than I am & tacked on a few extra miles to get to 50. Jeez, overachiever.

Phew. Continuing our preparations for the MS150, decided to get in a nice long ride this weekend. This was our first time on the path out to Valley Forge, and it was pretty nice. The cool temperature (it's only like 73 out right now) helped, though the high humidity did not. Also served as a good reminder to make sure we eat/drink enough on the ride, as we both bonked a bit halfway through the ride back.

Did a lap around Fairmount Park & then I decided to get some hills in, so I went up (with UP being the operative word here) to Manayunk for a bit. The route here's just the Manayunk bit, since I didn't feel like mapping out the lap around Fairmount too.

Continuing our training. Probably could've done a third loop, but it was getting dark & we didn't bring our lights. Also, I need a field in here for number of bugs eaten (3, I think).
