After 40 minutes on the trainer I didn't have much time for the treadmill, or much energy to actually run. So this was basically a walk that I added a little incline to so it would still be worthwhile.

Time to go sit on my ass in the library for the next 6 hours and write!

Robin, I was reading your entriesa few days back. It sure sounds like what you were watching was an osprey. It wouldn't be an eagle w/ a cream colored head. The juveniles are dark headed and the olders are a stark white. Osprey on the other hand, are fairly plentiful this yearand are particularly fond of any area near water. Maybe you already know all this - but just in case....

I didn't know this! I thought osprey were shaped more like the herons though - with a longer neck. Whatever I saw basically looked exactly like the giant hawks that I normally watch, but with a distinctly different flight pattern and a different colored head. It's possible it was just another hawk, or even an osprey (especially if my mental image of osprey is really far off). I'll have to go google some pictures now! Thanks :)

Defeated just sent me a picture of an osprey - they look *nothing* like what I thought! Boy was I way off. Maybe I was confusing osprey and egret.

Anyway, that could definitely be what I saw, if they come in a brown-bellied variety. The photos I just saw all had significant amounts of white on them still, and mine was largely brown with just a light head.

The mystery deepens!
