Amazon Headwaters --> Dillard Loop<< description to follow >>

Addidas & Amazon TrailsManaged to find the only dry hour in the whole day to get in a few miles. Despite being sick I was able to maintain Doug's ~ 8min/mile pace. Tomorrow more distance less speed.

I'm Back Baby!
30 minutes in my lowest gear with the resistance meter set at "sissy" still left me breathless. Squirly doesn't even describe it - more like a cat trapped in a box falling down the stairs. Not that I care - im just glad to be reunited w/ my bike after our 3 month seperation. The rain in Spain may fall mostly on the plain - the rain in Eugene falls all the fucking time....

Len and I went out for an easy ride this afternoon just to keep our miles for the week from being 0. I talked hime into letting me demo the Cannondale 6.13 (http://www.cannondale.com/bikes/06/CUSA/large/6...)
To para-phrase Ferris - "It's a sweet piece of equiptment, If you do have the means I highly reccommend you pick one up."

Amazon Headwaters trail/roadLight run w/the kids biking. The run ended up being a series of small runs with minor breaks to show the youngest the rules of the road. Ended with a nice sprint trying to catch him :)
Still not feeling well enough to goto work but not sick enough to keep off the bike. The concession I made was to not keep track of any of the stats for this ride, which is fine b/c I stopped at least 3 times to tweak the height of my saddle. It's amazing how much difference even half an inch can make - for me it allows me to keep the cadence the same but move up one gear. Problem is now my handelbars are a little too low and so I'm getting saddle soreness from being too far forward anytime I'm not on the crossbar. Still, I'm getting closer.

- Max Speed 18.00 mph
- Average Speed 9.50 mph

Sara's first ride on her new bike!! Yeah - the same one she crashed a few months back. It's all better now and so is she but even still she stayed in the saddle this time on an easy out and back on the Fern Ridge path (had to revisit the scene of the crime). She admitted to being out of shape so I'm thinking something more slower and more aerobically challenging for the next ride - McBeth maybe, or Gimple hill. Wonder how long it will be until she is beating me up those hills? Not long I think, especially if I dont shed some weight. You don't see many 200lb mountain goats in the Tour and there's a reason why - they're all in their teams cars dreaming of next years Tour of Holland.

- Heart Rate Average 131.00 bpm

Ran for fun with Neyo who has not run seriously since we ran Seattle last fall. In fact, I think that he ran just so that he could have an excuse to throw a bbq afterwards. What a way to end a long weekend...

Old McKenzie Pass- Distance 55.00 miles
- Time 04:30:00
- Average Speed 12.22 mph
- Elevation 5000.00 feet
- Average Pace 4:54 min/mile
The temps topped out at nearly 90 and with little shade this ride just kicked my ass. Thanks to my new 13-26 cassette climbing was actually the least of my problems - even on the back side my legs felt strong. My stamina however was just sapped by the relentless heat and the fact that while Keith, Galen & Chris all got to stop for lunch & water in Sisters I rode 55 continuous miles with only 3 bottles of water and some gu.
Why? - you ask - did I not join them for lunch? Well to give them a head start of course - a 2 hour head start...and because I'm the idiot who realized he left his shoes at home AFTER we'd made the 1 hour drive up. Still this is a great ride when the road is closed to motorized traffic and with the exception of some minor scree there was little reason not to imagine yourself getting ready for this Saturdays start of the Tour.
