Bear Creek/Enterprise- Distance 20.00 miles
- Time 02:43:15
- Average Speed 7.35 mph
- Average Pace 8:09 min/mile
Back to Back long runs - out past Pleasant Hill. Rolling hills course. First 16 miles just under 8 minute pace. Then it all hit like a ton of bricks. Struggled to finish last four miles. Today's run actually felt like an ultra feels - exhausting.
Nice day out though. Started at 59 degrees, finished at 68. Sunny. Deer and turkeys out in the fields and forests.

gnarly back to backs, you're the one who should be thinking about runnin' a 50 miler
is there any option other than 4AM for watching the O.Marathon??
This was kind of a test for me. I have been looking at Comrades and wondering what it would take to do it effectively (at 56M). Once you started asking the ultra-list folks about training for a 50M, I started reading more. The one thing that struck me as clever was the three days of 33 miles before doing a 100M.
After this morning I am a believer. This was as close to feeling a 50K as I could get without doing one. Every last step was an effort (and all I could dream about was an ice cold Pepsi waiting for me.)
I think I'm as ready for McKenzie River (in two weeks) as I'll be. This week I will start focusing training on the marathon in October. After it is done I hope to find a bicycle to borrow for a month to let my running parts rest but still get some exercise (I don't think I like biking so I don't want to buy one until I know I can enjoy it.)
Yes, you can wait until NBC shows it "live" eight hours after it happens :-) NBC has reminded again me why I don't enjoy television - it always disappoints me. Too bad about Lagat - I wonder what is up with that guy - I'm sure he's disappointed. Sure hope that R. Hall does well - I love that kid.
i ride my mountain bike maybe 4 days a week to warm up the legs and lubricate the joints, i keep the mileage 8-12 and it seems to help me although i could never be a real cyclist w my skinny legs
i'm trying "kinesio" tape, as used by the women's beach volleyball player, to support my fragile achilles - we'll see if it helps
