Black Butte Run- Distance 18.00 miles
- Time 02:41:17
- Average Speed 6.70 mph
- Average Pace 8:57 min/mile
- Elevation 1900.00 feet
It started as a Black Butte Run and ended w/ a Metolius River Trail run. Erik and I ventured (that is a way to avoid admitting that we walked a good portion so I can't say we "ran" but then again, we ran some, so I can'r really say we "walked") up and down Black Butte. Elevation 4850 to 6450. 28:17 up and 15:00 down - turned my left ankle (lower portion) w/ one mile left - scared me but it felt fine so we kept careening down - really fun. Mountain was socked in w/ cloud so didn't get to see Cascade Range - but the wildflowers were incredible.
Drove to the beginning of the Metolius River Trail for some flatter trail-running. 7 out and 7 back. Metolius is a beautiful, crystal clear river coming out from the base of the mountain - you can actually see the water coming out of the ground an splashing into the river - really amazingly cool. 1:58 for the second portion of today's sojourn.
Finished with Lynn, Erik and me heading into Sisters, Or for lunch and coffee (and pick up some pastries for tomorrow's breakfast.)
All in all, I had a wonderful day - good friends and fun conversations, beautiful sights, fantastic trails.

Ughh! That's a lot of elevation on the Black Butte portion. When I studied philosophy at U of O I only rode my bike on city trails - never ran. I should come over and run the Eugene area some time. You seem to have miles ans miles of great trails. More limited here.
Great runnin', Post!
