Argh - I'm tired today. Ran too fast yesterday to feel good today - stupid move but it was fun when it happened. Had to get up at 3:45 after getting to bed at 11:30 - after seeing perhaps the best Track and Field events in the United States in 40 years. The Trials surpassed all hopes and dreams last night - the men's 800 and Kip's fantastic 5K were the absolute icing on the Olympic Trials cake. It is almost like Christmas every day of the Trials.

Met up w/ Jon. Warmed up with 3.5 miles - it took at least that long to warm up enough to even stretch today. Did a faster 400 to loosen up (90 seconds) Followed with 8 x 200's and then 2 x 400's. Finished with a bit over two miles cool-down then stretch. Rest periods between 200 - 200 jog and then rest periods between 400 were 400 jog/walk.

First 200 was at 41, second was 39, rest were 38 and two at 37. 83 exactly on the two final 400s.

Good workout as it turned out - had I not publicly stated I'd be there today, I'd have slept in. Glad I didn't do that - now.

Not exactly. I took today off and will only do 4 easy miles tomorrow. Then the big race on Friday with some warm-ups. On Saturday I hope to do a gentle 15 miles. I'm not sure what the best taper is for SOB but since I'm not feeling like racing it and just getting through it, I suppose a proper taper isn't essential. Nonetheless, I've had some good workouts lately so I'm happy to loaf a bit this week :-) And you - what are you doing this weekend?

Wow- didn't realize you were running a 10K Friday. Good luck. You'll be flying, no doubt. Don't know about me. Plan to run later today and tomorrow then camping w the family on the weekend- try to fit in a trail run. Really don't know how to taper for SOB. I got pretty knackered last Saturday, last week with 8 days of hills, hills, hills. I'll probably be in Ashland early next Fri. for packet pick up and eats. Want to join me for early dinner?

John, I'm going to come down fairly early on Friday. I likely will be down there w/ my wife, Lynn, and another runner Joe Moll. Yes, we will try to get together for some finners early on Friday. I'll be in touch w/ details. ldr

Lonn - way to work hard. I couldn't agree more with your assessment of the Olympic Track & Field Trials to date - but then I have never been to a trials before. Performances have been outstanding, as has event execution. Your gutting it out after being up so late and then so early is also pretty outstanding!
