Met up with the usual suspects at the breakfast ride. This being my rest week, and having only 4.5 hours scheduled for the week, I only rode 1.5 hours today instead of the usual 3+.
Today was the maiden voyage of the Langster. It rides very nice and I am pleasantly surprised with the balance it has. It is quick handling without being twitchy and it accelerates very well. I have it dialed in perfectly, which is unusual because I usually have to tweak a new bike quite a bit before I get it where I want it. The only thing I want to change is the cleat alignment on my new shoes so I can be just a bit less deep into the pedal.

The Langster is very cool. The frame reminds me of the older specialized M2 metal matrix Alum. frames. One of the guys that leads our fixed gear rides on weekends and is an elite rider rides a Langster. The only mod he did was to pitch the freewheel, so he can only ride it as a fixed gear.
What gearing does it come with and did you change it at all?
We all ride 42 x 17 here = 68"
I bought it as a frame and built it up with stuff I already had. I have a few mods yet to make to improve upon it, but it's good as it is right now. I am running Campy Record hubs on Mavic MA2 rims, 32h, 3x 14g DT and Conti Gatorskin 25c tires. SRAM track pitch chain, 41x17 or 41x16 gear (depending on the ride terrain and the wind), Campy Chorus BB, Suntour Superbe cranks (172.5), Look pedals, Shimano levers, Shimano 105 brakes, Specialized A1 stem, Flite saddle, and TTT deep drop track bar.
I have only ridden a "single speed" (freewheel) once or twice and I don't understand the need. You are either free or fixed. If you are free, what's the point in having only one gear?
42x17 is actually ~66", unless you are running 27" wheels, and then the gear charts show it as 66.7.
