Today I got back from work early and I decided on using the spare time to go for a long run. I was planning on it being a classic "long run" meaning slow pace and high on miles, but that wasn't what it turned out to be.
Thus far in my return from injury I can't really maintain much of a run/jog without my heart rate going above a "easy" or "long" pace so I ran this "tempo" style long run but tried to make sure I was at least at a light conversation effort level. I imagine that this pace will turn into my "long" or "easy" pace once I get back into running form and I just don't have the mental patience to "run" slower that 4.5 mph.
The actual work out felt very good but one downside is even in ac house, the Mojave desert is hot mid day in June. So I sweat like crazy. But I was hydrated so no headaches and I finished the goal of 3 miles so all in all progress at last.
