After being confronted by an irrational raging club member after our executive meeting last night, i've decided to avoid the club's group rides for the rest of the year, so this morning Todd and I set out for a 2hour ride rather than waiting for the Tuesday night group ride like usual.
I cruised over to his place, and from there we headed into Innisfil and onto some freshly paved roads. Nothing quite as nice as whisking along glassy smooth pavement with the wind in your hair and the sun on your face!
We hit the hills on the 4th, and wow did the heat/humidty combo start to sap my energy! I was drinking 1.4L/hour and I am still dehydrated now that I'm home. Todd the nutter only brought one bottle with him for the ride!
As we were cruising along the lakeshore heading back into Barrie, i flatted. My first flat on the road this year, pretty good for 6000+kms. Last year in Toronto, i swear i flatted at least once every 500kms. My rear tire was down 30lbs this morning before we left, but i didn't see any holes in the tire...I took the tire off the rim when i flatted, and carefully examined the inside and outside of it, but couldn't see anything. I installed a new tube, got some air, and was back on the road in about 10mins. I don't carry air of my own, and neither does Todd, but luckily I flatted across the road from a gas station :)
When i got home, i tried putting some air in the tube I took out today, and there are no less than 4! holes in it! I think I must have pinched it when i installed it before the Tour de Lake Simcoe, it just took 300+kms to ruin the tube I guess.
