I decided to go to the Sunday Casual Touring ride this morning when i read of the forecasted Thunderstorms for this afternoon.

We had a great ride with 8 members.

Unfortunately we passed a fatal accident involving a car and a cyclist :(

The new bike feels simply wonderful. Much better than even yesterday because i spent some time last night making fine tuning adjustments to my cleats and saddle etc. I really can't wait to pile on some serious mileage this week!

edited because after comparing with another member it seems my HRM lost about 50minutes of the day. wtf?!

What a downer to an otherwise good ride. I sometimes have to remind myself of how vulnerable we all are out there.

Nice bike! How's the ride different from the Cannondale? Sprint and climb as well?

What fun...it's like Christmas!

I am saving diligently for my next bike. It will be awhile...

I lost a good friend to a garbage truck while we rode in late May 3 years ago, I unfortunately can never forget how vulnerable we are. Today was a sad reminder though, without a doubt.

Check my ride from yesterday for a link to the new bike, it's actually better than any Christmas i can recall :D

What is your next? I think mine will be a Parlee with Lightweight wheels. It should only take me 10yrs to be able to afford it!

It rides completely differently!
So much more forgiving in the rear end, cracks in the pavement are not even felt. The Cannondale transmitted everything to my poor behind, the Bianchi is going to make long rides infinitely more enjoyable.

I can feel a little bit of flex when i'm really standing on the pedals when I climb. I can feel a bit of binding thru the pedals from the chain moving out of perfect alignment. It's relatively minor, and the plusses outweigh the negatives IMO. This bike is also really really fast, the added 10th gear helps, but overall it just feels easier to get up to 32MPH and hold on the flats. It's over 2lbs lighter than my Cannondale too.

I haven't really done any sprints with it yet, but i have a race on Sunday, so I'll have a good idea then!

I am carefully weighing all options for my new bike. I have been riding a Serotta Colorado AL for the past few years. it's a 7000 series aluminum frame, and my first, with all previous bikes being steel.

At my size (6'2" and 215 pounds) I want light and I want stiff. I really have my eyes on something titanum, probably 6/4 and something in custom sizing with proprietary tube thickness.

32? I don't get there often on my own.

a parlee with lightweights... yummmy

but, with that bike costing over $10k, i think i would look at it and be afraid to ride it.

ahhh, you can't be afraid if you're out riding, that can lead to disasterous results.

I would likely not ride it anywhere near as aggressively as my Cannondale, but I wouldn't ride it much differently than my Bianchi.

i think, for me, i'd have to go with a colnago c-50, Dura Ace and probably some Cosmic Carbones. i'm too fat to ride lightweights!

Re: flex in the alu/carbon frame-
I went from a fondriest mega-al (all alu) to the bike i have a now, a trek 2100 (alu front, oclv carbon rear) and i also found the frame to be a bit flexier. it's affected my style a bit, but for the better, i think it makes me spin more, and really focus on being smooth. with the fondriest, i would just mash the pedals to get around. That said, the 2100 is just an intermediate until i can get something a bit higher zoot, and lighter, probably this fall.
