Thursday night group right with the boys & KellyKav.
Not much to say, it was cold, about 9degrees, but dry at least.
I need booties for my feet, and warmer gloves, but otherwise i was pretty comfortable.
I still can't get motivated to ride when it's cold and grey though. I've really got to get over that, my mileage is plummeting!

Forget booties, get winter shoes! I have Gaerne but Sidi also makes them. Winter cycling shoes are 10x better than booties and will really keep your feet warm right down to zero C and below!
I like the cooler fall weather!
I am in Florida this weekend, it is 85 degrees here and I'm sweating!!
Pearl Izumi AmFib booties and gloves...best I have had and all the Pearl stuff has a lifetime warranty.
a buddy of mine also swears by the AmFib stuff, he just raves about the tights.
I try to stay Sugoi, i like to support a Canadian company when I can.
Going to grab some booties today though!
I haven't tried/seen any Sugoi stuff, and didn't know they were Canadian. I recently bought a boat-load of Descente winter clothing and it is awesome. I like it better than the Pearl stuff I have bought in the past. All the tags say "Made in Canada", which surprised me.
Nice work on keeping up the mileage. I have ratcheted down for the season and am coasting to my 6k goal with 700 miles to go. At the rate I am going, it's gonna be close!
Booties are only good down to about 40 degrees (4 deg. C). Any colder than that and you need winter shoes. I've written this many times, but for both your benefit and Gman, I'll write it again. A bootie over your summer bike shoes will never compare to winter specific cycling shoes. Summer shoes are designed to fit relatively tightly on your feet and they are also designed with venting to let heat and sweat out. The problem with summer shoes in the winter is if you put on heavier winter socks the shoes will be too tight, that will reduce the circulation in your feet and your feet will be even colder.
Winter specific shoes are designed oversize- they are typically wider and slightly longer than a summer shoes of the same size. This will accomodate heavier, wool socks or even heat packs if you need them. The extra space creates a pocket of warm air around your foot. The shoes themselves are totally waterproof and windproof. In short, they're amazing. Kind of like cycling in a cross country ski boot!
The bootie does a good job of insulating the top of your foot, but there has to be a cut out in the bottom for your cleat and cold air and water will leak in around the cutout.
I've used both, I had booties for 5+ years and my feet were always cold once the temp went below 40 degrees F. I've ridden for 2-3 hrs in 25 degree weather with the winter shoes and feet were toasty warm.
To each his own, your mileage may vary, etc, etc...
I have been wearing booties over sidi shoes with wool socks for nearly 15 years (various models over the years) and I ride down to ~20 degress. Never a problem, feet are toasty.
Thanks for the "re-write" and I am happy you like your shoes.
