Made it home with 20mins to eat and get out the door for the group ride.
It was looking like rain, so i quickly checked the radar, and things looked good!
I made it with 3mins to spare, and quickly got warmed up. I hung near the front start, and the pace was really cookin, about 40km/h, with a tailwind, but still.
I had to take a natural break after about 45mins, and then had to REALLY work for about 7mins to get back on. I was putting out an avg of 400watts for this period, by far my best power output over that time period.
I was surprised how good i felt, especially considering my day consisted of manual labour, which is something I don't do being a computer weenie :D
When we were coming back into town, I had a great spot, well back in the pack, with little risk of being hung out as the choo choo train engine leading into the sprint. I played my cards perfectly, and was able to basically coast as others began their sprint. I unfortunately shifted down as a result, and when I did decide to go, i ran out of gear. I'm not sure it would have made a difference, as Shawn came up brilliantly on my outside just as I had gone up on Orrin and Don. LOL
I came second about a half a bike back from Shawn, and Larry pulled in for 3rd, giving us an all Bianchi "podium"
I hope the weather holds out so that we can have some more Tuesday nights before we pack it in, tonight was so much fun, and even though my total watts aren't really high, when i look at the graph, it's got by far the most peaks of any ride I've done since getting the powertap. I feel great seeing improvements like this already!
