Postal Swim Challenge

Posted about 1 year ago by swmcruz

Master's swimming does this postal swim every January and I thought some of you may enjoy the challenge. It's pretty simple... swim for an hour straight and see how far you can go! Seriously, that's it! You can mail in your results and see how to stack up against others around the country overall and in your age-group.

To be an official participant, you don't have to be part of a team, but you would have to register with USMS ($35/year) and have someone keep track of your laps and splits. Otherwise, you could do it on your own and as a personal challenge. More information can be found at: http://www.usms.org/longdist/ldnats07/1hrentry.pdf

Let's see if some of you guys can beat my personal best of 5175 yds!

Under a 1:10 pace for an hour!? Nice work! I'm not sure if I can match that, but I'll give it a go!

How interesting. I was just thinking about trying a one hour straight swim next week. I don't think I'll be able to beat 5175 yds unless I miss count really badly. I'll be happy if I complete 4200 yds.

I finally got an open lane to try a 1 hour TT. I ended up completing 4325 yds. I was counting myself, but I'm fairly confident I didn't mess up.

i finished my swim this morning. 4480 meters = 4900 yards. i was hoping to go a bit over 4500 meters to get to 5000 yards, but i just didn't have it today. pretty sad that in two years i lost almost 300 yards!
