For those who are completely weather impaired, I will also track times in January. So, you won't be ignored.
Early December scores:
1) mikepop -513.29
2) Chuckles -296.79
To enter, put the temperature at ride time at the beginning of the ride's comment section. Remember units, and no spaces please. For example:
-10C
or:
20F
Scoring rules are as follows: only rides below freezing count, and the score is temperature in C multiplied by distance in km.
If you believe you have been miss scored, please let me know so that I can check the scripts accuracy.
To get certain slightly weather impaired members scoring (mathowie), I wouldn't mind offsetting the temperatures by a few degrees. Allowing rides below 4C to count as -1 in the scoring formula, for example.
I was also thinking about taking the square or root of temperatures, to add some weighting. However, after thinking about it, I'm against that.

Thanks for putting this together! It will help motivate me in January :)
Cool, I added my temps.
If you're looking for past temperatures: http://www.wunderground.com/history/
Looks like the soring script works fine.. We're going with ride time temperature (rather than daily high). It will be a little confusing for me, because I sometimes add two or three days of riding all at once, but I'll manage.
Good to see a couple more riders scoring!
I'll post a MeTa in the next couple of days to announce the challenge more widely. I know there are a few cyclists who can be inspired to lose minor appendages to frostbite.
I'll donate a metafilter bike sticker as a prize for the winner
It's not the temps I mind--it's the vehicles. I had a bike vs. car accident several years ago and I tend to get wigged out around cagers. Once (and if) I can get back into getting up at 4 or 5 AM I should be heading back outside.
Stay warm and hydrated, folks!
