This group is for people who want to get back into shape slowly and methodically, taking baby steps instead of huge leaps.
For myself, I started at 207 pounds on January 1st and no real exercise. I've changed my diet to be more sensible (smaller portions are key), and I began to exercise in mid-February. Right now, I'm taking shortish bicycle rides whenever I get the chance. There's a *possibility* that I'll try to train for a marathon on Sept 30...

Thanks for starting this group, JD.
Its always been difficult for me to find people to exercise with -- having the same schedule, interests, and exercising commitment issues as I do -- so I thought I'd give the exercise flavor of social networking a shot.
Hopefully my bad habit of sporadic fitness will turn into a more long term one.
I'm likewise trying to turn my sedentary lifestyle around into something a bit more healthy, and in the process lose some weight and be able to run around the block without losing my breath.
Having some like-minded people to share progress with and receive/provide a little extra support seems like a great idea.

Big thanks for starting the group to work with the blog. I've been working at loosing weight and getting in shape as best I can. I've dropped 8-10 pounds since January and beat my fitness goal in a recent fitness test.
I give much credit to my success to the blog as the support and motivation helps a great deal.

I've read your blog for a while and when I decided to start the whole couch-to-5k program, I thought it might be fun to join this too. Plus it gives me something else... accountability. I'm never too good with that.
